ENDLESS WINTER AT RED MOUNTAIN BC
BC – The Snow Mecca
Red Mountain
Ah, sweet winter. And the glory of so much champagne powder, falling freely at our leisure.
The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a hemlock tree
Has given my heart
A change of mood
And saved some part
Of a day I had rued.
Red Mountain is our joyous gateway to the Kootenay Rockies – see it standing tall, enticing from the comforts of our lounge room.
Feel your mood lift as you breathe the air & see the bulging powder pillows tease you into flirtatious action.
You don’t have to dally with just the downhill – why not take your skimobile into the maze of trails around here & find your own backcountry action.
And you’ll have to check out the Powder Highway – simply the largest ski area on the planet. Over 3 million acres of rideable powder… Wow!
Riding Snow
If you’re searching for that hidden gem of a mountain, pay close attention
to what’s possible at Red Mountain resort, your escape in BC,
your first stop on the Powder Highway.
There’s a history & commitment to getting on the snow going back over
110 years – the first chair-lift in Canada was built here.
And with over 4000 acres of trackable terrain, riders
tend to disappear into the trees & across the slopes, & magically
out of sight.
Nordic Skiing
If downhill isn’t your buzz, don’t worry – the Blackjack Ski Club
are BC’s Premier Nordic Club & have a world class venue here.
Enjoy over 40km of groomed trails for all your classic cross-country
& skate skiing desires.
There are no excuses for demanding the best on your escape
in BC…
Ice Fishing
Ice fishing is the amazing practice of catching fish through a tiny opening in the ice
of a frozen body of water.
Some like to fish in the open, others do it in heated enclosures, well stocked.
Discover Erie Lake or Rosebud Lake near Salmo BC for brook
trout, largemouth bass, yellow perch, pumpkinseed sunfish, & rainbow trout
are the fish you hope to be seeing.
Rossland Winter Carnival
Why not enjoy one of the oldest carnivals to celebrate winter in Canada,
and get stuck right into the action.
There’s something for everyone at the Rossland Winter Carnival, where
there’s more than plenty to tickle the active fancy.
Come help us to celebrate that the first ever downhill ski race in
Canada happened here, way back in 1897.
That’s a serious tradition of seizing & enjoying the moment, long
may it continue.
Fat Tire Biking
Not quite like cycling with one of our favorite beers, these
bikes are built for winter. The fat tires handle the snow
brilliantly & are good on trails, downhill & even along the road.
We love the fact that winter can’t stop us riding our big old
fat-tired bike around the maze of trails, even in powder!
Bring it on.
Snow-Mobiling
The terrain in the West Kootenays, remarkably, is also really good for
getting about on a snow mobile.
There’s a massive maze of trails & areas maintained by local clubs, of
which there are a few.
Every angle for having snow fun is covered in the Canadian Rockies.
Treat yourself to a marvelous roam across the mountains, hitting trails
as you binge on adrenaline on machines that rip…
Cat Skiing the Canadian Rockies
When you have so much snow, like on the Powder Highway, then cat skiing is
exactly the tonic that the doctor ordered.
Over 3 million acres! Why not let the machines do all the work – get us
to the untracked terrain, now!
Life should be this exciting – make sure you drink from this very abundant
epicentre of global cat skiing.
