Red Mountain Summer Vibes
Up in the West Kootenays, in this hotbed of outdoor activities, sometimes we feel like doing absolutely nothing. Why not, eh. And then sleep well in the delicious coolness of the nightly mountain air. Wow.
You could play golf on one of the 6 courses within a 90 minute radius. Or swim the alpine lake at Nancy Green Provincial Park – the warmest in BC. What an effort.
The fish in the many lakes, rivers and creeks would be especially delighted if you did nothing here, especially if you didn’t fly-fish or go trolling.
Visiting the Rossland Beer Company for a fresh mountain-fresh beer is another definite non-activity. Or imagine walking an old whisky-running trail.
Notice the architecture downtown – the only Miner’s Hall still standing in Canada – or the old Bank of Montreal building designed by Francis Rattenbury.
See Rossland Courthouse, with its symmetrical corner towers, highly pitched roof and almost fortress-like appearance. What was that about?
Hitting the Beaches
Believe it or not, the beaches here do lend themselves to a good
& vibrant waterfront lifestyle.
There’s definitely a different energy to being a river beach bum –
but the idea is kinda the same. Taste the freedom.
It’s all about getting out there…
Tubing the Slocan River
How about tying a few inflatables together, add some refreshments,
and go tubing gently down the Slocan River.
Tube like you were Huckleberry Finn – and really get to taste the
freedom that BC has to offer.
Feel your stresses dissolve & your worries abate…
